Greenhouse Maintenance Checklist for Long Term Farm Operation

Greenhouse maintenance is important for long-term farm operation. Regular inspection can reduce sudden breakdowns, extend material service life and keep the growing environment more stable. Structure inspection should include columns, arches, trusses, bolts, fasteners and foundation points. After strong wind, snow or storms, check whether any parts are loose, bent or damaged. Covering materials need regular attention. Greenhouse film should be checked for tears, loose edges and aging. Polycarbonate sheets and glass panels should be inspected for cracks, loose profiles and sealing problems. Ventilation systems should be tested before hot seasons. Roof vents, side vents, roll-up motors, rack and pinion systems, exhaust fans and circulation fans should open and run smoothly. Irrigation systems should be cleaned regularly. Filters, drip tape, emitters, valves, pressure regulators and fertigation units should be checked to avoid clogging and uneven watering. Cooling pad and fan systems need seasonal maintenance. Cooling pads should be cleaned, water circulation should be checked, and fans should be inspected for belt, shutter and motor condition.
