Greenhouse Project Planning Checklist Before Requesting a Quotation
Before requesting a greenhouse quotation, many buyers only prepare the greenhouse size. Size is important, but it is not enough for a reliable design or price. A commercial greenhouse project depends on climate, crop, growing method, structure type, covering material, ventilation, cooling, irrigation and installation conditions.
Preparing the right information at the beginning helps the supplier recommend a suitable solution instead of giving a rough price that later changes. It also helps the buyer compare quotations from different suppliers more fairly.
Start with the basic project information. Confirm the country, city or region, total land area, planned greenhouse area and target construction time. If possible, prepare a simple site drawing or Google Maps location. Local weather conditions are also important, especially high temperature, low temperature, strong wind, snow, sandstorm or heavy rain.
Next, define the crop and growing method. Tomato, cucumber, strawberry, leafy vegetables, flowers and seedling production may require different greenhouse height, ventilation area, irrigation layout and climate control. Soil cultivation, substrate bags, hydroponic channels and nursery trays also affect the internal system design.
The structure type should match both climate and budget. Plastic film greenhouses are widely used for vegetables and cost control. Polycarbonate greenhouses offer better insulation and impact resistance. Glass greenhouses are suitable for high standard projects, long service life and strong visual presentation. In hot regions, sawtooth ventilation or stronger shading may be more useful than simply choosing a more expensive structure.
Buyers should also list required systems. Common options include side ventilation, roof ventilation, insect net, shade net, circulation fan, exhaust fan, cooling pad, drip irrigation, fertigation, heating, lighting, seedbed and control cabinet. Some projects need only basic systems at the first stage, while others require a complete turnkey package.
Finally, prepare questions about installation, packing and after sales support. Ask whether the supplier can provide drawings, material list, loading plan, installation guide and spare parts. For overseas projects, clear documentation can reduce construction mistakes and communication cost.
